This past weekend I had a chance to experience this easy yet rewarding hike up Tanglangshan. With plenty of tree cover and a wide paved trail it’s perfect for large groups. If you check the trees closely or just look where people are pointing you may have a chance to see a variety of wildlife including the famed Tanglangshan monkeys. And no matter what there’s a beautiful view of Shenzhen, both Futian and Nanshan, from the top.
Location: Start your trip at Taoyuancun Station on Line 7, Exit D and continue ahead and take a right on Longzhu 6th Road and follow it North all the way into the park and up the hill. The road is wide and paved but a faster route can be achieved by taking the stairs between the switchbacks.
A well maintained bathroom at the top offers some peace of mind as well as an incredible view. The men’s room urinals have an open view facing North into Tanglangshan Park and part of the trail.
In all the hike should take about 3 hours round trip. If you’re feeling extra adventurous there is a way to continue your journey into Tanlangshan Park 塘朗山公园 and into the much more challenging Meilin Houshan 梅林后山 area.
