About

Just a small-town boy… living in a lonely… okay you get it.

I’m Craig, an American living in China. Here in China I can’t help but be amazed by some of the places I see and people I meet. Such rich history, unique culture and inspiring people and businesses deserve to be elevated. As a foreigner and former Google Maps addict I’ve found my ability to access these wonders is stifled. Locations are hard to find and up-to-date information is hidden among Chinese apps that I’m still learning to use. I have a feeling I’m not alone. This is why I hope is to use this site to highlight special places and experiences and make them accessible to new and old English speaking friends.

It’s a big world out there. Let’s get off our digital assets and experience what’s out there.

Bio

Working for years on documentary films that have taken me around the world I find most tour guides lacking. Imagine going to California and only visiting Disneyland… you’re missing things! That’s why I crave experiences that give a behind-the-scenes look at a place and connect to the lives of the people who live there. Village farmers markets, nature hikes and urban exploration are my jam.

Living in California I first visited China in 2015 and after making the move to Shenzhen in 2021 I’ve lived here over a year. I’m still new but I’ve made a point to wander and thus have stumbled on some truly remarkable places. Using my cameras I love taking pictures/videos and experimenting with new media formats. This blog is where I combine both of this things, the media I love capturing and the new places I love sharing.
