Winding stone alleys worn from countless footsteps lead over waterways where deliveries of fresh produce and goods arrive at area restaurants that serve visitors. Follow the canal to the west and you’ll find yourself at the White Lotus Pagoda along the shore of the Jinghang Canal, the longest man-made waterway in the world connecting the Yellow and Yangtze rivers and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

But as the day arrives so do tourists, all determined to take pictures of themselves from every and at every location. Many wear beautiful historic clothing and others just stop in the middle of the path clogging the flow.
